Cylindrical Dandruff

Cylindrical dandruff is one of the most recognizable eyelash signs associated with Demodex blepharitis. It appears as waxy, sleeve-like debris wrapped around the base of the lashes and is often seen with itchy eyelids, redness, lash crusting, burning, irritation, dry eye symptoms, or recurring eyelid inflammation. Unlike ordinary flakes, cylindrical dandruff forms around the lash follicle, where Demodex mites can live and contribute to buildup, sensitivity, and chronic lid discomfort. This section explains how cylindrical dandruff differs from regular eyelid dandruff, why it matters in Demodex-related eye concerns, and what clues may suggest a deeper eyelash follicle issue.
