Itchy Eyelids

Itchy eyelids can be more than simple dryness or allergies, especially when the itching keeps coming back along the lash line. In Demodex blepharitis, eyelid itching may appear with collarettes, cylindrical dandruff, lash crusting, redness, burning, dry eye symptoms, irritation at the lid margin, or a gritty feeling in the eyes. Because Demodex mites live around the eyelash follicles, itching may feel worse near the base of the lashes, especially in the morning or during recurring flares. This section explains how itchy eyelids may connect to Demodex-related eyelid concerns and what visible lash-line clues to look for.
