Lash Loss

Lash loss can happen when the eyelash follicle becomes irritated, inflamed, or weakened over time. In Demodex blepharitis, lash shedding may appear with collarettes, cylindrical dandruff, itchy eyelids, redness, burning, dry eye symptoms, crusting at the lash line, or recurring lid margin irritation. Because Demodex mites live around the eyelash follicles, ongoing buildup and inflammation may disrupt the normal lash environment and make eyelashes appear thinner, weaker, or more prone to falling out. This section explains how lash loss may connect to Demodex-related eyelid concerns and what visible signs to look for around the lash line.
