Beard Demodex refers to Demodex-related irritation that may affect the facial hair follicles, oil glands, and skin underneath the beard. Because Demodex mites live around hair follicles and sebaceous glands, beard-area concerns may appear with itching, crawling or tickling sensations, redness, flaky skin under the beard, beard dandruff, follicle bumps, rough texture, oiliness, sensitivity, or recurring irritation that does not behave like ordinary acne or shaving bumps. Beard Demodex may also overlap with beard folliculitis, seborrheic dermatitis, ingrown hairs, bacterial irritation, fungal imbalance, or product buildup from oils and balms. This section explains how Demodex may connect with beard itching, beard bumps, flakes, and recurring follicle irritation patterns.
