Dandruff is commonly associated with scalp flaking, itching, oiliness, dryness, buildup, and irritation. While many cases are linked to yeast imbalance, seborrheic dermatitis, product buildup, or scalp barrier disruption, stubborn or recurring dandruff may also overlap with Demodex-related scalp concerns. Because Demodex mites live around hair follicles and oil glands, scalp flaking may appear with itching, crawling or tickling sensations, follicle bumps, redness, tenderness, excess oiliness, or irritation that does not behave like ordinary dandruff. This section explains how dandruff may connect with Demodex, scalp follicle stress, and recurring scalp imbalance patterns.
