Seborrheic dermatitis is a common scalp and skin condition associated with itching, redness, greasy flakes, irritation, excess oiliness, and recurring inflammation in areas rich in sebaceous glands. On the scalp, it may appear as stubborn dandruff, yellowish or oily flakes, sensitivity, burning, or patches that flare with stress, humidity, sweat, product buildup, or barrier disruption. While seborrheic dermatitis is often linked with Malassezia yeast imbalance, some recurring scalp patterns may also overlap with Demodex-related follicle concerns because Demodex mites live around hair follicles and oil glands. This section explains how seborrheic dermatitis may connect with scalp flaking, yeast imbalance, follicle irritation, Demodex activity, and chronic scalp discomfort patterns.
