Corneal Involvement

Corneal involvement refers to irritation, inflammation, or disruption affecting the clear front surface of the eye. In Demodex blepharitis, chronic lash-line inflammation, collarettes, cylindrical dandruff, lid margin irritation, tear film dysfunction, and meibomian gland changes may contribute to an unstable ocular surface environment. When the cornea becomes affected, symptoms may include burning, grittiness, redness, light sensitivity, blurred vision, watery eyes, foreign body sensation, or recurring dry eye discomfort. This section explains how corneal involvement may relate to Demodex-associated eyelid concerns and why persistent eye surface symptoms should be evaluated by an eye care professional.
