Lash Breakage

Lash breakage happens when eyelashes become weak, brittle, dry, fragile, or prone to snapping before they naturally shed. In Demodex blepharitis, lash breakage may appear alongside collarettes, cylindrical dandruff, lash debris, itchy eyelids, redness, burning, dry eye symptoms, lid margin inflammation, or recurring irritation around the eyelash follicles. Because Demodex mites live near the lash follicles, ongoing buildup and inflammation may disrupt the lash environment and make lashes look thinner, uneven, weaker, or more fragile over time. This section explains how lash breakage may connect with Demodex-related eyelid concerns and what visible lash-line clues to look for.
