Lash Debris

Lash debris refers to buildup, crusting, flakes, or waxy material that collects around the base of the eyelashes and along the lash line. In Demodex blepharitis, lash debris may appear as collarettes, cylindrical dandruff, sleeve-like buildup, eyelid crusting, or sticky residue near the eyelash follicles. It may also occur with itchy eyelids, redness, burning, dry eye symptoms, watery eyes, lid margin inflammation, lash shedding, or recurring eyelid irritation. Because Demodex mites live around the lash follicles, visible lash debris can be an important clue that the eyelid environment is inflamed, congested, or chronically irritated. This section explains what lash debris may look like, how it may connect with Demodex-related eyelid concerns, and why recurring buildup should not be ignored.
